Hospital Cardiology Consultation

A hospital cardiology consultation is typically requested by your primary care physician or another specialist seeking more information and/or input from a provider specialized in cardiovascular medicine. This consultation may be for many different reasons, such as exploring a known diagnosis, treating an unknown diagnosis but new symptoms, managing a chronic condition or for a pre-operative cardiac evaluation. A cardiology consultation may also be necessary when you, your personal physician, or your regular cardiologist are seeking a confirmatory or second opinion. The cardiologist will continue to be involved in your hospital course of treatment as your condition warrants.
